[Actors]
Actors are just people surrounding the world, mostly visible in Quarantine Zones. Some of them are also vendors from which you can buy weapons and food. There's also a Quarter-Master which will have some free items for you every one hour (real time)
[Animations & attachments]
The project uses custom animations for pretty much everything. It is used for reloading, detecting jumping, climbing, swimming and more. Playing different death animations, deer animations, sneaking, listen mode animations. Along that there's also an attachments system which shows attached weapons on your characters like 9mm pistol or bow (with some season type objects as well like x-mas hat!)
Apart from that, you can access an animation list on the server with /anims command, which will display 213 animations. You can play animation directly as regular commands (for example - /animName) instead of looking for the animation in /anims command. Some animations have special finishing animations applied to them (when you stop animation) and some of them have extra animations that you can play with a press of a button (press SPRINT key to play idle animations for specific animations).
[Audio]
Audio is a huge aspect of the game. All NPCs (infected, human, animals) play their own set of audio for different situatuins they are in. You will hear them idling and see walking around or chasing after you or attacking other players! All sound effects are in-game with a 3D feature (aka proximity sound effect - the further you go the lower sound is).
There's also an ambient music in the background that plays original The Last of Us game soundtracks. You can either:
[Backpack & Weapon menu]
These two are the main UI features of the game. Backpack is your place where you craft or upgrade items; upgrade your skills tree; read collectible notes you have collected from the world. You can craft items such as shiv, medkit or nail bombs! Upgrade your max health, listen mode distance and more!
Weapon menu on another hand is the place where you pick your weapon from cross-system user interface just like original game. You can have up to 14 weapons (including your melee weapon).
[Chat]
Chat has been also customized and has a proximity feature with different formatting of your messages. For instance if you type '!' at the end of your sentence your character will shout the text you've typed - shouting isn't wise around infected people. They will hear you and start walking towards the origin of sound. If you want to make sure you won't be heard type '.' (dot) before your text in chat and your character will whisper instead.
There's also a global in-game chat that can be enabled/disabled (depends on server's administrator decision).
[Doors]
The door system provides doors than players can open or close or doors that are shiv-closed. Shiv-closed doors can't be opened. Normally, in order to open those you must waste one of your shivs - it's a matter of luck, since there is not always nice loot.
[Events]
The events system is a place for players that want to leave the TLoU world for a little while and have some fun! Do you want to play TDM or Call of Duty style zombie mode? Those features have been crafted especially for you! Pick up instant kill or max ammo boxes to help out your teammates, compete with other players for the higher score to be at the top of the scoreboard! Remember that a headshot gives you more score!
One of the events (Infected waves) has weapons on the walls which you can buy using your hardly earned score during the event for killing NPCs! It's a tough decision because the score you end with calculates the amount of cards you're gonna get after event has finished!
[Fast travel]
The game supports a fast-travel system between all Quarantine-Zones. All you have to do is find a specific fast-travel sign (which is introduced to you when you register for the first time in-game), go near it and select the location you want to go to. It's not free. It will cost you a small amount of cards to fast travel between Quarantine Zones. Signs can be found around Los Santos. You cannot fast travel when you were damaged recently (there's a one minute cooldown)
[Fire]
The fire system has been customized entirely. You don't throw regular molotovs anymore like it is by default in GTA SA. Instead you equip your molotov, AIM and throw! All with custom animations and actions applied with it!
[Groups]
It's up to you to decide which one are you. Are you "The Lone Wanderer" or you actually rather to stay up within group since you feel better about it that way. You decide! Group system currently gives you an advantage of having a radio system through which people can talk to each other. Groups are saved always and are not removed upon leaving the game.
You can:
[VIP]
Nothing special to say here. VIP system has a few premium features on the server that are not available to other players. Those features are:
[Health]
Your old regular red health bar is gone. Instead you'll experience original The Last of Us health bar feature & colors depending on your health state. All health damage points have been customized and each item (weapon) deals different damage (depending on distance!). There are several ways you can heal yourself up. Run back to the Quarantine Zone and buy food from vendor, find raw food around world or heal using medkit (which can be crafted via backpack menu!)
[HUD]
Experience completely new reworked HUD with custom health bar, weapon icons, ammo display and other awesome features - just like original The Last of Us game!
[Items]
Items are split into different types. You have bullet weapon type items, melee, ingredient, projectiles & throwables, heal and accessory items. You find them, you keep them. You use ingredient items to craft stuff in your backpack, use gas mask to avoid spores from bloaters, flashlight to light your way or melee weapons to slice your enemies in half (remember to upgrade it too!). All weapons can be customized as well. You can upgrade some of them. For example, for the 9mm pistol you can increase the ammo in the magazine, the total ammo you can carry, its fire rate or its reload speed! More to see at the workbenches.
[Sprites]
Sprites are 2D effects which are created above items in the game world. They appear above items laying on the ground showing what type of item it is and the amount of it. If there's no amount text visible, that means the quantity of the item on the ground is "1".
[MAP]
To use your map simply hold KEY_NO (which is 'N' key by default) to open your in-game map. The map in game shows your current location, your reincarnation position and other places such as where the fast travel signs are or quarantine zones. It also shows your /group members!
[Punish system]
The punish system is for players which don’t know how to behave. They can get kicked, banned, banned temporarily, warned or even admin jailed (don’t try escaping admin-jail, there are bad consequences from the system for doing so!)
[Properties]
There's nothing better than having your own place in the world, right? The gamemode features a property system, you are able to buy properties, customize them, change their interiors or even import your customly made ones - all dynamically in-game! You can also invite players to your property (if you are the owner of a property). There's no buy-out system, so you don't have to worry about other players being able to buy your property off you. Each player can own the same property, but will never see each other inside the property. How cool is that, huh?
[Register & Login]
Your password is hashed with bcrypt password-hashing function. It's safe.
The register & login system is very basic. It is a straight forward sign-in & sign-up dialog boxes in which you type in your password. When you join the server again (after registering) you'll be presented few options:
[NPCs]
There are many NPC classes, where each has its own specific behavior to it.
1/ Infected class (Runner, Stalker, Clicker & Bloater)
2/ Human class (Fireflies & Hunters)
3/ Animal class
Clicker & Bloater can’t see you but if they hear you, you are screwed. Bloater is one-hit-kill, you better keep your distance because he’s also throwing spores of its belly! The clicker on another hand does massive damage and can grab you from behind and eat your neck! In case you have a shiv, you can escape from Clicker’s grapple. The Runners & Stalkers are one of those infected which still have vision and can see you sneaking around, they are fast and doing some minor damage, but combined with bloater or clicker – you are pretty much dead.
There’s also a Fireflies & Hunters NPCs. You may spot some NPCs fighting each other in the world – that could be them. The infected classes also fight human classes.
Each NPC has its own audio set which will play directly in-game with proximity feature. So stay alert to hear any Clickers around or other!
NPCs react to all kind of sounds around the world such as weapon shooting, shouting, walking/running around them, explosions. They will walk towards the origin of the sound!
[Reports]
The reports system has been crafted in a very advanced way. You can keep track of your reported issues to admins and see details of it and check its current status (if it's assigned, closed, resolved). The reports system allows you also to report in-game bugs, cheaters and other issues that are available. Check for more information command /report while in-game!
[Spectate]
The spectate system is used during events. If you died in an event you will spectate other players with the possibility to switch between participants. You will eventually be respawned (for instance, once the current round finishes on infected waves event).
[VoteKick]
Just in case there isn’t any admin online, you always have an option to be a hero! If there’s a player cheating, abusing game bugs or whatever else, do not hesitate to report him (using reports system) and vote kick him out of the server! Voting requires some amount of players for approval.
[Weapons]
One of the most advanced modules of the gamemode. Each gun has to be reloaded individually. For example, when you shoot out the clip empty your gun will not reload as usual the game would do it for you. Instead of that you have to stop aiming and hit the right keyboard button to reload your weapon! That changes the game phase a lot!
There are new custom weapons introduced within the system. There is a BOW, with recoverable ammo (there’s a chance arrow won’t break once shot), deadly silent weapon. There are projectiles & throwables! The projectiles section contains weapons like Smoke Bomb, Nail Bomb, Molotov Cocktail all with custom animations and mechanism to throw them. You have to aim (with right mouse button) first to start aiming and hit the fire button to throw it!
Throwables on another hand are useful to distract infected enemies with its sound upon destruction or to stun an enemy once thrown at him! It’s your choice!
The shiv weapon can be used in various ways. Always good to have one of those with you. The shiv weapon can be used to open locked doors, shiv people from behind (or any angle if enemy is stunned), escape from clicker’s grapple and more!
[Workbench]
The workbench is the beauty of the game. That’s where you spend your hardly scavenged parts from the outside world. You use them to upgrade your weapon’s reload speed, fire rate, ammo clip capacity with total ammo that you can carry and more! Make sure to visit one of those at some point.
[World Time & Weather]
That system includes a day & night cycle with weather changes. Not much more here to say. The rate time changes are a bit slower than GTA SA default time (3 seconds of real life = 1 second in game). There’s a set of weathers also and when it’s stormy remember to visit the ocean, you might notice some big waves!
During storm weather you can:
1. Crouch-walk around Clicker/Bloater
2. Jog around Runner/Stalker
During regular other weathers you can only:
1. Sneak around Clicker/Bloater (crouch-walking, running/jogging will make them aware of you instantly)
2. Sneak/Crouch-walk around Runner/Stalker
- During storm, sandstorm and snowing your shouting distance is reduced by half
- It's easier to loose NPC when there's a fog or sandstorm weather
- NPC chase start is 10m instead of 12m when there's a fog or sandstorm weather
- Weapon noise is reduced by half during fog, sandstorm and snow weather
Actors are just people surrounding the world, mostly visible in Quarantine Zones. Some of them are also vendors from which you can buy weapons and food. There's also a Quarter-Master which will have some free items for you every one hour (real time)
